SimpleInvite and Google Forms

A form collects the answers that come in. SimpleInvite knows who you invited, so it knows who hasn't answered, and it asks them again for you. A Google Form is the better pick when you need to ask more than whether people are coming.

Which one to pick

Pick SimpleInvite if

  • You need to know who hasn't answered.SimpleInvite keeps everyone you invited, with the people still pending on top. A form has no guest list: it holds the answers that arrive, so finding who is missing means checking the sheet against your own list.
  • You'd rather not chase people. The people still pending get a nudge on their own, and you can send two more. Google Forms has no reminder of its own.
  • It should look like an invitation. The date, the place and your photo, in one of eight looks, on a page that opens from a message as a card.
  • Plans change.Send an update in your own words, and when the date or the place moves, everyone who answered is asked again. Each guest changes their answer on the same link.

Pick Google Forms if

  • You need more than yes or no.Meal choices, T-shirt sizes, who brings what: a form asks anything. SimpleInvite asks whether they're coming and how many.
  • It's big, and it has to be free.A form costs nothing with a Google account, at any size. SimpleInvite is free to 30 guests, then $5 an event.
  • You live in spreadsheets.Link the form to a Google Sheet and every answer lands there, to sort and share.

A class reunion for 60

Sixty classmates, a date three months out, and a venue that needs a count a week before.

On SimpleInvite

  • Add the classmates with an email or a mobile number. We email everyone with an address; the rest get their link in a text from your phone.
  • Pay $5 when you send, because the list is over 30.
  • The people still pending get a nudge on their own. You can send two more, and each one goes only to the people who haven't answered.
  • The count, partners included, is on the event page. Download the list for the venue.

What it costs$5 for this event.

On Google Forms

  • Make a form with a name, a yes or no, and how many are coming.
  • Email it from Forms, or post the link where your classmates will see it.
  • Answers collect in the form, or in a linked sheet. To find who hasn't answered, check them against your own list.
  • Write to the missing people yourself, and add up the count.
